Luxor Named the Inaugural "World Capital of Culture, History, and Heritage"
Luxor City has been awarded the prestigious title of “First World Capital of Culture, History, and Heritage” by the African-Asian Union (AFASU), winning unanimously over Kyoto, Japan. This recognition highlights Luxor’s global significance as an icon of human culture and civilization and acknowledges its efforts in heritage preservation, cultural development, and sustainable tourism. The award, presented by AFASU’s Supreme International Committee, serves as an international platform to promote cities with exceptional historical and cultural legacies. AFASU, an organization dedicated to fostering tourism, culture, technology, and sustainable development, traces its roots to the Afro-Asian Peoples’ Solidarity Organization (AAPSO), established at the 1955 Bandung Conference and now comprising members from 92 countries.
