Egypt has received official verification confirming that the Grand Egyptian Museum opening ceremony was conducted with a low carbon footprint, marking a major milestone in sustainable cultural development. According to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and the Acting Minister of Environment, the certification aligns with international environmental standards and represents Egypt’s first application of carbon footprint accounting for a national project. The initiative positions the museum as the country’s first public site with legally verified environmental compliance, setting a model to be replicated across future state projects under Egypt’s 2030 and 2050 climate strategies.
