The National Authority for Tunnels has announced that Egypt’s first high-speed electric rail line, connecting Ain Sokhna to 6th October City, will launch its pilot phase in the first quarter of 2027. Spanning 670 km and 21 stations, the route forms part of a larger network linking Ain Sokhna to Matrouh, with future extensions planned toward Borg El Arab and beyond. Integrated with the New Administrative Capital’s light rail and the 6th October monorail systems, the project aims to revolutionize mobility across Egypt, with speeds reaching 230 km/h and dedicated freight capabilities enhancing marine and land logistics. Station construction is already 60–75% complete, led by Egyptian companies in collaboration with Deutsche Bahn, positioning this megaproject as one of Egypt’s most transformative transport initiatives.
