Fayoum

Fayoum is one of Egypt’s oldest cities, and was the seat of worship of the crocodile god “Sobek”.

Originally called Shedet in Ancient Egypt, the Greeks called it Crocodilopolis or Krocodilopolis, the Romans called it Arsinoë and the Arabs named Madinat Al Fayoum.

Located less than a hundred kilometers from Cairo and known for its rich heritage of flora, fauna and archaeology, in addition to the protected areas of Lake Qarun and Wadi Rayan National Parks.

Fayoum Oasis is one of the most beautiful and fertile regions of Egypt, with many tourist attractions and interesting activities. Some of the famous tourist attractions are the ancient Waterwheels, The Pyramid of Hawara, Maidum Pyramid, Madinet Madi and the UNESCO heritage site’s Wadi El Hitan National Park.
