Egypt has begun preparing for the total solar eclipse on 2 August 2027, when Luxor and Siwa are expected to experience some of the world’s longest periods of totality, lasting from five to more than six minutes. Plans cover designated viewing locations, transport, domestic flights, security, visitor facilities and coordinated opening hours for museums and archaeological sites in Luxor. A dedicated visual identity and information channel are also planned to support international visitors travelling to Egypt for the event.
