Accor and Orascom Development Egypt have announced plans to reposition the iconic Mövenpick El Gouna as the new Sofitel El Gouna Resort, further expanding Egypt’s luxury hospitality landscape on the Red Sea. The property will undergo a phased renovation program beginning in 2027, transforming it into a flagship Sofitel destination in partnership with Arabian Peninsula Hospitality.
Located within the vibrant coastal town of El Gouna, approximately 30 minutes from Hurghada International Airport, the resort will benefit from a unique beachfront peninsula setting with both sea and lagoon access. The redevelopment aligns with El Gouna’s vision of enhancing premium lifestyle, cultural, and hospitality experiences on Egypt’s Red Sea coast.
Following renovation, the luxury resort will feature 420 redesigned rooms and suites, alongside extensive wellness, leisure, dining, and event facilities. The project will combine Sofitel’s signature French-inspired elegance with subtle references to Egyptian heritage, creating an immersive luxury experience for both leisure and business travelers.
The transformation reflects the continued growth of Egypt’s high-end tourism sector, with the Red Sea Riviera increasingly positioned as a leading year-round destination for international travelers seeking premium hospitality experiences.
