The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) has announced that Egypt will host the inaugural AFRICA FLAG 2025 in Cairo on 20–21 June, marking the continent’s first-ever flag football championship. Organized in partnership with the NFL and the Egyptian Federation of American Football (EFAF), the event will feature elite men’s and women’s teams from across Africa competing for qualification to the 2026 IFAF World Championships, a key step toward the sport’s debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Alongside the main tournament, Egypt will also host NFL Africa programming for the first time, including youth development events, talent identification camps, and the NFL Flag Continental Championship for U-12 players from Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria. With participation in flag football rapidly growing across Africa, the championship aims to inspire a new generation of athletes and elevate the sport’s profile on the global stage.
